An independent artist who successfully self-released her debut single Running Wild<\/strong> earlier this year, Emma takes inspiration from her variegated musical background, and her musical education developed between Italia Conti<\/em> and Guildford<\/em>, to write her deep lyrics and exciting melodies.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Waves<\/strong> is a contemporary pop song inspired by legendary musicians of the past, such as Freddie Mercury<\/em>, and new talents, such as Bastille<\/em>, alike.<\/p>\n

<\/a>\"\"The songwriter herself explains how Waves<\/strong> deals with the concepts of freedom, affection, solitude, and the urge for discovering something new and unexplored. How to balance the need to be free with the need to be loved and accepted? Many teenagers and people in their early twenties will totally relate to these doubts.<\/p>\n

Emma’s warm and powerful voice is very likable and her lyrics genuinely explore a theme so important, especially to young people.<\/p>\n

The production is another positive aspect of the song: Waves has a laid-back beat, enriched by non-intrusive pounding drum machines, enticing pads, and synths that leave enough space to Emma’s outstanding vocal range.<\/p>\n

The song structure is clear, with a well-balanced alternation of hooks, choruses, and a powerful bridge, proving Emma Kelly a skilled songwriter, despite her young age.<\/p>\n
