He quietly released a record called \u201cTechnicolor Movies\u201d – a collection of originals built around the central theme of the “friction of being human” in 2005. His music is described as earnest and atmospheric, echoing those of pop giants like Neil Finn, Michael Penn and Ron Sexsmith.<\/p>\n

It would be 13 years later when he felt it was time to explore his own sound again, taking the unexpected route. Despite his incredible experience in recording studios, he decides to go for a minimalist style that could emphasize intimate vocals, heartfelt lyrics, and a very personal touch.<\/p>\n

\u201cLeave a Light,\u201d one of the first songs he released, is a perfect example of a raw but gentle style, featuring only soft vocals and a mesmerizing piano. \u201cOblivion<\/a>,\u201d with its pounding guitar and delicate lyrics, embodies yet again a dreamy and ethereal mood.<\/p>\n

<\/a>\"\"Rich Jacques’ latest single \u201cEvery Time,\u201d however, \u00a0sounds slightly different. While the lyrics are still sweet and introspective, with a focus on the joy of having found \u201cthe one\u201d, the song is way more upbeat than his previous singles and it presents different sonic layers, giving a whole different depth to an already captivating melody.<\/p>\n

A few groovy layers of guitar, accompanied by an R&B-inspired percussion, open up the track, placing the listener into an uplifting, warm mood. When Jacques’ vocals join in, the listener is left wanting more of the sweet tale of love he is narrating.<\/p>\n

The layers add up on the pre-chorus and the chorus, with more guitars and a pounding drum loop, giving the listener the sensation of having reached the juicy part of the story, an effective trick we could expect from an experienced songwriter and producer such as Rich Jacques.<\/p>\n

There is also a funky guitar solo before the closure, which serves as another mood-lifter. To enrich the song even further, a hidden gem stands out through the various layers of the track, as we hear Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Lisa Loeb sing some mesmerizing, sensual harmonies throughout the chorus and the closing section.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery Time\u201d is an interesting arrival point for Jacques, after his minimalist experimentation and the eclectic side project AALTA. \u00a0We can’t wait to hear what the next step in Rich Jacques’ researches of new sounds will be.<\/p>\n
